His Excellency Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari, Ambassador from Qatar to the United States
H.E. Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari will discuss the foreign policy developments of Qatar.
Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari was appointed ambassador of Qatar to the United States in December 2013, having previously served as Qatar's ambassador to France with accreditation to Switzerland and the Holy See for the past decade. In 2007, he also became nonresident ambassador to Monaco and Portugal. Ambassador Al Kuwari joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981 as third secretary. He was first posted to Washington, D.C., from 1981 to 1986, and to Madrid from 1986 to 1990. He later became chief of the Information Department of the Cooperation Council to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 1991. Following a post in Tehran (1991-92), Ambassador Al Kuwari served as deputy head of cabinet (1993-95), director of European and American affairs (1995-97; 2001-02), member of the Diplomatic Consular Services (1997-2001), and head of delegation of the Qatari political and strategic dialogue with France (2001-02). Ambassador Al Kuwari received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Portland and his master's degree in international relations from the University of Madrid. He is married with five children and speaks English, Spanish, French and Arabic.
