The World Affairs Council of St. Louis is excited to announce that its 25th Annual Chinese New Year Celebration will be held Friday, February 5, 2016, at the St. Louis Ritz Carlton Ballroom. The proceeds of this, our only fundraiser, are used to sponsor our community service activities. The greater St. Louis community has come to rely upon the Council for these activities that have three things in common. One, they are free of charge to the participants; two, they are made possible by your support of this “Year of the Monkey” celebration, and three, they bring international experiences and awareness to a large cross-section of people living in our area.

Whether you were born under the Chinese Zodiac sign of the boar, rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, rooster, dog or boar come celebrate Chinese New Year with us annually (every February) and let the Zodiac sign positively influence your disposition for the year!

2016 is the “Year of the Monkey”; the Monkey being one of the signs of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 animal signs.  Those born in the Year of the Monkey tend to be smart, clever and intelligent, especially in their career and wealth. They are lively, flexible, quick-witted and versatile. In addition, their gentleness and honesty bring them an everlasting love life.

Our Chinese New Year celebration attracts about 275 people a year and features an exceptional Chinese banquet, interesting and varied reception activities (many are new!), impressive entertainment, multiple raffles with substantive prizes, and an oral auction conducted by a professional auctioneer. Guests, from all segments of our society, return year after year to enjoy an evening celebrating the Chinese culture. You are invited to join the celebration.
