A Great Decisions Series Lecture
GREAT DECISIONS
Love to stay updated on current world affairs? Have limited funds to attend offerings? Don’t want to or can’t travel too far to participate? Take advantage of a series of videos (from the Foreign Policy Association, Washington D.C.) and discussions on “Great Decisions” sponsored by the World Affairs Council of St. Louis (WAC) in partnership with the Forest Park Community College (old Kingshighway Highlands) for 8 weekly noon sessions, each Spring. Hear the inside story not likely to be presented by network news programs on a currently hot topic. The masterful video interview with subject experts, created by the Foreign Policy Association in the hub of policy making, is supplemented with a live local expert who allows you to ask your burning questions on the spot. The series is offered in the Student Center’s Highlander Lounge (2nd floor). Parking is free in lot F with shuttle service to the student center. These arrangements serve students and ageless Americans equally well. If you are a teacher, a neighborhood book club or discussion club leader, you might want to purchase the video series (with written summaries) and hold your own group discussion at the end of the video. If you are an AARP, or other support group leader, you may want to reserve seats for your group or carpool to the community college. Participants can purchase a well researched, independent publication on the series of topics. At the end, participants have the opportunity to submit opinion survey ballots to the Foreign Policy Association (think tank), who compile and forward the results to all members of Congress and to the U.S. State Department. For instance, during 2007 the “Great Decisions” topics included the “Middle East”, “Climate Change”, “Mexico”, “Migration”, “South Africa”, “War Crimes”, “Central Asia”, and “Exploitation of Children”. To reserve your seats or answers to your questions, please contact the WAC at (314)727-9988 or e-mail Robert Fischer rfischer@wac-stl.org . Mail your dollar contributions to World Affairs Council of St. Louis, 815 Olive Street, Ste 29; St. Louis, MO 63101-1507.
